Client: Factory Canteen & Colony | Type: Design, Engineering & Consultancy | Technology: CSTR Anaerobic Digestion
Background
Kitchen waste from a factory canteen was being disposed through tractor trolley outside the premises, incurring high labour costs and resulting in an unorganised waste disposal system non-compliant with legislative norms.
Solution Implemented
Shreyans Energy designed and established a Kitchen Waste Treatment Plant using CSTR Anaerobic Digestion technology, converting waste into energy and eliminating the disposal problem entirely.
Plant Performance Data
| Parameter | Value |
|---|---|
| Waste from factory canteen & colony | 800 kg/day |
| Biogas production | 80 M³/day |
| LPG replacement (cooking application) | 40 kg/day |
| Project cost (2004) | Rs. 8.5 Lakhs |
| Saving in LPG per year | Rs. 5.54 Lakhs |
| Simple payback period | Approx. 1.5 years |
This project demonstrates that kitchen waste treatment plants pay back their investment in under 2 years while making the facility a zero waste discharge unit.
